Obituary
Lewis Leo (L.L.) Cook Lewis Leo Cook of Newburg, MO, passed away in Rolla, on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at the age of 95. Lewis was born June 5, 1915, to the late Leo Ernest and Mary Christina (Todd) Cook of Newburg, MO. He grew up on the family farm located on J Highway near Newburg. On November 19, 1939, he married Margaret Malone. Lewis was a farmer, trucker, and owner/operator of the Newburg Feed Mill for many years. After selling the business, he became the owner/operator of Cook and Son Trucking, with his son L.D., and later, his grandson Todd. Lewis retired from the trucking business at age 80. He continued to farm and raise cattle. Lewis was very active in the Newburg Christian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was always involved in community activities and loved helping anyone in need. Lewis loved spending time with his family which included: training and showing Tennessee Walking Horses; attending stock car and drag races; watching his grandchildren play sports, and race stock cars. After his retirement, he and Margaret loved attending auctions, going to Wal-Mart, having lunch at the Senior Citizens Center, and spoiling the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had a kind word and smile for everyone. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beulah Evelyn Summy of Salem; son-in-law, Wayne Daniels, and a daughter-in law, Sheryl (Harrington) Cook of Newburg. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. His surviving family includes his wife, Margaret of Newburg; sister, Patsy Springman, age 99, of Salem; son, Leo Daniel Cook of Newburg; daughter, Margie Daniels of Newburg, four grandchildren: Todd Cook, David (Kim) Cook, Christina Cook, of San Antonio, TX, and Kimberly (Mike) Allison of Rolla; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention. Online condolences may be offered at teagueandsonsfh.com.Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church of Newburg located on Main Street in Newburg. Interment will be held at the Newburg Cemetery in Newburg. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lewis Cook. All arrangements are under the direction of Teague and Sons Funeral Home of Newburg.
