Roedean (Rody) Ann (Malone) Cherry
Roedean (Rody) Ann Cherry went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2013, in Rolla, MO, at the age of 78 years, after a brief illness. Rody was born October 2, 1934, to Daniel and Wilhelmina Malone, in Newburg, MO. She was born during the World Series in 1934, and therefore, was named after Schoolboy Roe and Dizzy Dean.
Rody’s laughter was unforgettable and would lighten up the room. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and two special Pekinese puppies – Xena and Bandit; watching the St. Louis Cardinals; playing the piano, and traveling. She was a caregiver for all of her loved ones and always concerned about others. Rody loved life and serving the Lord. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rolla.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Daniel W. Malone, Jr., and William (Pat) Malone; sisters Dorothea Huckaba and Pauline (Polly) Pinto; husband, William Cherry; niece Danette Jackson, and nephew Larry Grotha. She is survived by two sisters: Margaret Malone of Newburg, and Jane Grotha, Glenrock, Wyoming; three nieces: Debra Malone, Margie Daniels, and Susan Bennington (Les); three nephews: Daniel Webster (Sharon), Randall Huckaba, Jr., and L.D. Cook; several great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, and special friends too numerous to mention. Rody will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
All services will be held at the Teague and Sons Funeral Home of Newburg. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Newburg Cemetery in Newburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newburg Cemetery Fund. All arrangements are under Teague and Sons Funeral Home of Newburg.
