Violet Elnora (McCown) (Prewett) Gaddy went home to be with the Lord December 31, 2010 at Dixon Nursing and Rehab. Elnora was born in Tater Holler near Arlington, in Phelps County on March 13, 1925 to OpaI (Hance) Prewett and was raised by Ray Prewett from the time she was two.
In 1941 she was united in marriage to John Albert Gaddy and to this union four children were born. Elnora worked at Powellville, MO for the Harlen's in their motel and restaurant on Old 66 from 1953 to 1968, Dixon Shoe Factory from 1968 to 1972, Phelps County Regional Medical Center from 1977 to 1980, and Meramec Home Health from 1981 to 1995 and she helped to start Hospice with the agency. She cut toenails in Phelps, Pulaski, Dent and Crawford Counties where she was known as "The Toenail Lady".
Elnora is survived by her daughters Oma Wagoner and her husband Eugene, Annis Fay (Griego) Bacon and her husband Jerry.
Elnora is preceded in death by her husband John Albert Gaddy on August 21, 1976 and her sons Larry Wayne Gaddy on July 15, 1969 and Lonnie John Gaddy on 'May 10, 1994.
Elnora had 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. She also had two half sisters Roseannis (Prewett) Gray passed away October 2006. Helen (Prewett) Fuller and husband Clifford, Franklin Prewett and wife Genieve survives. One sister-in-law Norma (Gaddy) Hoffman and husband Max survive many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Elnora loved her Lord and loved going to church and bluegrass music, taking pictures and making picture books for children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be Tuesday January 4, 2010 from 5 to 8 at the Apostolic Faith Church in Jerome, MO. The service will be Wednesday January 5, 2010 at 11 am with internment at Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Apostolic Faith Church in Jerome, MO. All arrangements are under the direction of Teague and Sons Funeral Home.
